Garage Door Services - Up and Over Garage Doors

The well known term of "Up and Over doors" come in 2 forms of opening mechanism, Canopy and Retractable garage doors.

Both types of Up and Over garage door kick out at the bottom when opened and need to run on an existing timber or steel frame or canbe supplied with a new steel or timber frame.

Canopy Garage Doors

Canopy (or Slideaway) Mechanism, Used for Up & Over Garage Doors, this is the least expensive option but is not ideal for automation. The canopy door operates in vertical tracks on the side frame of the garage door and is usually cable operated. When fully open the door forms an overhang above the opening. which is the equivalent to approx one third of the garage doors height - hence the name CANOPY.
The Canopy Mechanism is only suitable for lighter doors and is not available for double door sizes

Retractable Garage Doors

If you are considering a manually operated door, we would always recommend having the retractable mechanism as the extra cost is minimal. This will allow you or future owners of your home to easily automate the garage door at a later date.
The retractable door, runs on a horizontal track, enabling the door to fully retract within the garage - leaving no overhang like the canopy.
This mechanism, will allow you to have a retractable door in a double size.

If cost is one of your main key factors, but have liked the thought of a sectional garge door - you will be surprised to know that a manually operated, non insulated sectional is not that different in price.
